WHAT TO WEAR TO SWAHILI FASHION WEEK THIS 2018

November 29, 2018 Being Anastazia 0 Comments

December is almost here, it's surely the best time of the year! but what makes it more exciting is "Swahili Fashion Week" the biggest fashion show in the whole of East and Central Africa.

The show is always marked by the press and the "hungry fashion police" ready to attack and the hungry "fashion critics" ready to eat. The last thing you want to be is the dinner that will get served to them.

Surely we can talk about participating designers, participating models but this article is for victims of fashion that know less about what to wear. Don't say we didn't warn you!

2017 was great year, people brought up the game on the red carpet, all the way from pant suits to transparent tights, mistakes have been made (we cannot undo that!) and we were proud ( we would like to keep this happening) so lets get started with what you can possibly wear in this 2018 Swahili!

1. BLAZER/ JACKET

Probably you saw this coming, but trust us.... this is a bold selection that will never grow old. We aren't talking about just any kind of blazer, try a rider jacket for instance or a bold tailored piece. Remember, cheap can be spotted especially if it is not custom made.
Please keep in mind, there is a very thick line between formal and fashion show, its all about the positioning of the item.

HOW TO WEAR!
Simple is always more! throw up with a simple LBD (little black dress) or a simple jumpsuit or even simple top with pants but remember, the statement in this look is the blazer, do not go overboard with other items.

2. AFRICAN PRINT

It's not new, besides.. it is "Swahili Fashion Show"so why not go all "Swahili?" what we will advice you is "DO NOT OVER DO THE AFRO PRINT" again, there is a fine line between fashion and other mediums. We recommend you stick with one piece of African print as your statement. Do not complicate the design by wearing one of those bridal looks, wear something simple yet stylish.

HOW TO WEAR

  • One piece

  • Single Piece

3. HEELS

Okay! most bloggers/ magazines would tell you go with what you feel, but we say this is Tanzania, we don't have paved roads everywhere we go so at least this once you actually "have" to wear heels. Especially if you give up in the middle of the day and switch your amazing heels with those flats hiding in the bottom of your purse.
You can also always go with the classy red bottoms, boots and the oxfords.
Yes sure, you can still go with flats but the point here is "statement" this is the one time you can wear things you normally wouldn't and even though we cannot promise you won't get "the eyes" you get to live a little.
If you are somewhere in between "I am not sure if I will have a ride" or "I just can't wear heels for more than an hour" we advice you to go all block.

HOW TO WEAR
First we loves print, so animal print not bad at all! second lets do statements shall we? but here is the rule! do not mix this statement up with any other statement elsewhere, let the attention all drop dead to your feet mama! You can even be daring with wearing a flashing color.

4. STRIPES ARE YOUR BFF

Like we said... We looooves Print! our number one on the list is "Stripes"and it is exactly what we recommend. Try out Print clothes or items. Thank us later.

HOW TO WEAR

5. PLEASE LEAVE THE BAG AT HOME

So many people think it's cool to have a bag under your seat on a fashion show, I mean, unless you plan to take something from the designers please leave it at home. A simple clutch will do.

6. FRINGE

THIS SPEAKS FOR ITSELF! "STATEMENT!"

7. STATEMENT

Okay, I know this whole article has been talking about statements, let's just clear up some things. You only need one statement, either shoes or clothes.
Really, glasses not so much, lets not do that this year. let's also not do over accessorizing! let's keep the statements only on what first grabs attention. You can always go with a statement skirt, Little Black Dress or so to look unique but remember, You only get Swahili Fashion Week three times every year. That is more opportunity to redeem and impress your style!

Thanks For stopping by...
