MARTIN KADINDA STEALS THE SHOW AGAIN

Michael Jackson once said the hardest task he had was to top himself up every time he performed. The audience wants more and he has to prove himself better each time than the last. We would like to believe that these are the makings of a true legend and Martin Kadinda is exactly this.

Before we proceed any further to speak about the legend in the making, take a look at his work from his last year's collection  GADABOUT

The fascinating story is just how we wonder and question what new innovation he will put on the stage and this man slaps us flat on the runway with his 2018/2019 gladiator inspired" collection watch

Honestly! The tension of having to wait to see what he brings next was high but, the wait was totally worth it.

We would say this year and all the years before were great for the designer not only did he stomp the show into our hearts, he won countless awards rewarding his great work including African Designer of the year #Nigeria and five years in a raw Khimji Mens Wear Designer of the year 2018 #SFW

We would like to believe fashion isn't only about the sketching and the buying and the making, it's about being unforgettable! and Martin Kadinda, you are unforgettable.

Thanks for stopping by,

Stacy💕

WHAT TO WEAR TO SWAHILI FASHION WEEK THIS 2018

December is almost here, it's surely the best time of the year! but what makes it more exciting is "Swahili Fashion Week" the biggest fashion show in the whole of East and Central Africa.

The show is always marked by the press and the "hungry fashion police" ready to attack and the hungry "fashion critics" ready to eat. The last thing you want to be is the dinner that will get served to them.

Surely we can talk about participating designers, participating models but this article is for victims of fashion that know less about what to wear. Don't say we didn't warn you!

2017 was great year, people brought up the game on the red carpet, all the way from pant suits to transparent tights, mistakes have been made (we cannot undo that!) and we were proud ( we would like to keep this happening) so lets get started with what you can possibly wear in this 2018 Swahili!

1. BLAZER/ JACKET

Probably you saw this coming, but trust us.... this is a bold selection that will never grow old. We aren't talking about just any kind of blazer, try a rider jacket for instance or a bold tailored piece. Remember, cheap can be spotted especially if it is not custom made.
Please keep in mind, there is a very thick line between formal and fashion show, its all about the positioning of the item.

HOW TO WEAR!
Simple is always more! throw up with a simple LBD (little black dress) or a simple jumpsuit or even simple top with pants but remember, the statement in this look is the blazer, do not go overboard with other items.

2. AFRICAN PRINT

It's not new, besides.. it is "Swahili Fashion Show"so why not go all "Swahili?" what we will advice you is "DO NOT OVER DO THE AFRO PRINT" again, there is a fine line between fashion and other mediums. We recommend you stick with one piece of African print as your statement. Do not complicate the design by wearing one of those bridal looks, wear something simple yet stylish.

HOW TO WEAR

  • One piece

  • Single Piece

3. HEELS

Okay! most bloggers/ magazines would tell you go with what you feel, but we say this is Tanzania, we don't have paved roads everywhere we go so at least this once you actually "have" to wear heels. Especially if you give up in the middle of the day and switch your amazing heels with those flats hiding in the bottom of your purse.
You can also always go with the classy red bottoms, boots and the oxfords.
Yes sure, you can still go with flats but the point here is "statement" this is the one time you can wear things you normally wouldn't and even though we cannot promise you won't get "the eyes" you get to live a little.
If you are somewhere in between "I am not sure if I will have a ride" or "I just can't wear heels for more than an hour" we advice you to go all block.

HOW TO WEAR
First we loves print, so animal print not bad at all! second lets do statements shall we? but here is the rule! do not mix this statement up with any other statement elsewhere, let the attention all drop dead to your feet mama! You can even be daring with wearing a flashing color.

4. STRIPES ARE YOUR BFF

Like we said... We looooves Print! our number one on the list is "Stripes"and it is exactly what we recommend. Try out Print clothes or items. Thank us later.

HOW TO WEAR

5. PLEASE LEAVE THE BAG AT HOME

So many people think it's cool to have a bag under your seat on a fashion show, I mean, unless you plan to take something from the designers please leave it at home. A simple clutch will do.

6. FRINGE

THIS SPEAKS FOR ITSELF! "STATEMENT!"

7. STATEMENT

Okay, I know this whole article has been talking about statements, let's just clear up some things. You only need one statement, either shoes or clothes.
Really, glasses not so much, lets not do that this year. let's also not do over accessorizing! let's keep the statements only on what first grabs attention. You can always go with a statement skirt, Little Black Dress or so to look unique but remember, You only get Swahili Fashion Week three times every year. That is more opportunity to redeem and impress your style!

Thanks For stopping by...

Female rapper whose talent is just wow...!  We are guessing it was'nt so easy to make it as a female emcee in Tanzania given that competition is very high and mostly male-oriented, we've got to give to her, she really made a name for herself. Rising from an ordinary family she really is an inspiration.

FaLiBe in collaboration with Sagula decided to put a taste on this girl's style and you cannot believe what an experience it was!
Charm, flexible and fun made it the best moment ever and you may even want to just work forever beside her!

But before we get to the pictures, checkout this interview that we did  during her makeup and discover a lot of amazing facts you didn't know about Claudia A.K.A CHEMICAL whose name was given at the studio due to her flaming verses and burning lyrics;

FaLiBe: How can you describe your style?

CHEMICAL: Simple and flexible.

FaLiBe: Who has been your lifetime inspiration in music and lifestyle?

CHEMICAL: A lot but mainly I would say it's Ciara and Nicki Minaj.

FaLiBe: So, apart from music, what else do you do?

CHEMICAL: Actually I'm a Masters degree student majoring in heritage.

FaLiBe: What/Who would you like to be portrayed as?

CHEMICAL: Confident and strong.

FaLiBe: What would you like people to know about you that they do not know?

CHEMICAL: I'm soft, I cry, I love. I think that's what people do not know about me and they just end up assuming stuffs like because I'm a tomboy means I'm hard but that's not true at all.

FaLiBe: What do you think about people's opinions on your style?

CHEMICAL: I think they should concentrate more on my music because they can not change my style that I'm comfortable in.You cannot force me to change, I will when I see it fits.

Dior Newest Campaign Sends Great Messages About Women's Rights
Written By: Elvis 360

 Edited By: Stacy Oswald
Next up in Dior Revolution: spring 2017 ready-to-wear campaign that continues in shape and brings a new artificial artists director Maria Grazia Chiuri's life. For her first time, she tapped the twin models Ruth and May Bell (all of which held coveted ads in the Dior line-up during the Paris Fashion Week) and French photographer Brigitte Lacombe to present the brand's sexual orientation values by insisting, on the other hand, the celebration- sister "has different characteristics, which describes the two opposite sexes.

"I am striving to be careful and clear to the world and to create a style that resembles today's women," Chiuri has said first of his collection to Dior. "Fashion that meets their needs needs to be flexible, free from the stereotypical groups of 'masculine / female,' 'young / not so young,' 'cause / emotion,' which, however, also occurs as a complement of the elements."
Purpose pared back, twins Bell are shot against white backdrop-series that make up a great body of work: Women Back Lens, a collection of pictures made by women and their personal collection of collection

Signing Out,

THE LADY NYANGOUB IN THE LADY IN RED

It's kind of a funny story actually, I knew Nyangoub through a friend who worked in my modeling agency. I desperately needed someone to fill in the "stylist" position in my agency, I needed a sharp and edgy person who does not think about today rather five years from now.
I loved Nyangoub cause she felt like my little flower, wait did i say loved? I mean, I love her cause I was right about her.
She had so much innocence yet rawness that was only waiting for the right opportunity to shine. Honestly speaking, she was my most loyal colleagues in my agency.

Me being miles away and unable to actually attend her "exhibition" in the "Lady in Red" fashion that was held on the 10th/02/2018 the least I could do was give her this platform.

So, who is Nyangoub?

Nyangoub Yessy is a fashion designer and a stylist who started doing fashion related matters on her advanced studies in Moshi Kilimanjaro.

She started doing fashion effectively on 2015 as a Stylist at Nzuri Africa Modeling Agency (NAMA) on IG as @nzuriafrikatz
She created some of the most revolutionary styled shots when working with NAMA such as the railway shoots and Christmas shoot.

Models Eric & Jaymes

Model Jaymes

Model Coco

After NAMA temporarily shut down, she carried on with her heart of fashion an worked with different notable individiuals in the Tanzania fashionin dustry such as Rio Paul in different activists and fashion related activities.

Nyangoub with Rio Paul
On 2017 she participated on Lady in red fashion show by showcasing a single female wedding dress and participated again on 2018 the same fashion show and being able to showcase five different females wear.
For me this collection, I associated with the whole Valentines season, so in case you think..."Naaah!, I want to do a designer couture for valentines, you could always check her out via her mail maryyes18@gmail.com

And now, for a moment we have all been waiting for.
Here are some of the pieces she showcased this "Lady in Red" 2018

Nyangoub
Her sense of whimsy, creativity and her nurturing nature made her an icon within her fields of work in schools and when working with different organizations as a volunteer.
In the near future I hope I can work with this young talent once more and I am eager to see what she has installed for the Tanzanian fashion industry.

Thanks for stopping by, till next time,
Stacy 💕

LE POSH FASHION BAZAAR BY ZENO.
So many amateur shows and people coming in the fashion industry it is really hard to keep track of the people that actually care about the Tanzanian fashion industry and actually put up an effort and contribute in building the local fashion industry.

"Le Posh Bazaar is a platform which gives designers and all fashion lovers room to buy, sell, meet new people with like interests and showcase products to the public for free,so its an open market for Fashion People to meet and mingle" Says Zeno, the owner of the brand.
He continues to say..."........My idea is to help the people in the fashion industry to strive.........

This young Tanzanian hunk Zeno Kahumba officially founded "Le Posh" in 2017 due to his passion in Fashion and love to improve the Fashion industry in his country, despite the fact that the brand had been previously active in years before like in 2016 when he worked with big models like "Richard" most famously known as "Chady Black" and many famous people like "Diamond Platinum" and many other artists. This is to prove how his hard work helps to penetrate the way for others behind him that he believes are fashion lovers.
Zeno on the right with the outstanding Tanzanian artist Diamond Platinum

Zeno on the left with Tanzanian comedian Mpoki

Zeno with the beautiful Wolper
With his commitment to help upcoming designers and models he gave fashionistas the "Le Posh" Stage to showcase there work for Free, last year (2017) he did two fashion shows at Club next door, using the swimming pool creatively as a runway.

But still.......so many designers and models  have yet exhibit and sell there treasures  hence"Le Posh Bazaar" was born.

This being the very first of its kind from the "Le Posh" brand, the two day event will be held on 24-25 March at Target Supermarket, Masaki Dar es salaam. You absolutely have no reason to miss it, gates are open for everyone with no entry fee. I mean if you don't look good this 2018 its all on you. But, also keep in mind, its not just about the clothes, rather its about people you meet. I really think we should build a behavior to support our local designers, by knowing them all the way to buying and wearing what they sell.

I am also very curious to know which designers will be stepping up to exhibit and sell, I am super excited I just wanna take the first flight in March to wait on the Bazaar.

Designers...... I AM CURIOUSLY WAITING TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE INSTALLED THIS 2018!!!

The + Size collection By Samuel Zebedayo.
One of my biggest conflict with the Tanzania fashion industry is that the imitation of the industry to the European fashion industry is too much. Yes skinny models are very good in displaying the design as they actually act like hangers on the runway 😁 no offense.
But coming back to my perspective, I think the Tanzanian fashion industry should not entirely encourage size zeros I think we should go beyond to any size as we do have a variety... yes you should be in good shape no "kitambi" whatsoever but realistically most Tanzanians aren't size zeros... Alright that is another post for another day....
Samuel Zebedayo to me is another designer with a very promising future, I loved his collection second because he was very realistic and hey...its plus size so helloooo?? (I'm skinny by the way)
so without further ado, check out Samuel's collection from Swahili Fashion Week 2017.
I wish I could get close enough to give more fabric examination but I can tell that it is a combination of different vitenge on one, I'm not sure it it was designed like that or it is the art of 'Sam' either ways me likey.

Worn right by ON IG as @waiswa.ronald all the way from Uganda
Okay, after a loooooooong stare, I can tell that the fabric was re-designed... I love the time and effort spent on these pieces.. truly great work Samuel.
I'm a sucker for buggy clothes so pens down this was right here... MY favorite peace in your collection Samuel.
The detail is so very exquisite... I wish I could see your sketch book as you designed the fabric arrangement. The chocker looks nice with the dress.. the shoes kind of look small for her though, anyway...moving forward!!!
Worn by (On Ig as:-) @glorrievivamodel
Hey Sam? jokes aside, I don't know if it's within your designing or tailoring ama kama ni fundi wako I truly appreciate your fabric arrangement, I like your alignment in every design, If you don't look carefully the front part of that outfit looks like he is wearing a neck piece... APPLAUD 👏👏👏👏👏
Worn by Elias, on Ig as @gudboyofficial
As a piece on its own.. I truly love this look but all together on the collection, hapa kidogo umezingua Sam, I mean looking at the collection I see a story, something vibrant and somehow every piece is connected to another, I feel like this design is too basic. I love the idea though but if I were you I would give this dress my all and throw in anything that my mind comes up with I mean...yeah I know less is more but I DON'T BUY THAT! I think #YOLO and a statement is all you need to be making. This design stands out on its own, i feel like a little more "Zebedayo" would have made it outstanding.
I also think ulifeli tena on the accessory department, I mean the chocker is a big NO for me. The look all together looks very ordinary now don't get me wrong, ordinary is good but I mean the rest of your collection says you put one heck of an effort, this piece should have been stronger.

I do love the Velvet boots... and as I said on its own, I like the side details and the slayer herself.

MARTIN KADINDA DONE DID IT AGAIN!!

So I know Martin from sometime back but I don't want any of you to think this post is because of it. Martin was my favorite "Male Designer of the year 2017"
HERE IS WHY...

 1. Did ya'll see the architecture in his design?
Ok, all jokes aside, I'm not saying that other designers had less architecture but some had pretty basic staff for the biggest East & Central African fashion show, are you kidding me?
This is my favorite piece... on one of my favorite models and I am proud to say that Muuh... I found you at M/moja, crossing the road with your dad and immediately i saw your future as a model. Not that I'm taking all the credit or anything but I am very happy that I discovered a talent and better yet I trained that talent. Shout out to #NAMA real quick!!!
Back to Martin, ya'll see the detail on that shirt? the draping? yep, definitely my "fave" male piece of the night! SFW #031217
Mwarami #Muuh_Mimi_More in Gadabout SFW 2017

2. Now I know Ya'll can see that fabric.
My dear my dear... I love prints... but most of all I like that type of newspaper print. I would wear that fabric in anything even in an underwear. The design mixed with the print is to DIE FOR!!! and most importantly, Martin, You have a car! But I love how umewaza wasiokua na magari.. That fabric is just perfect for Tanzanian weather yo... I want one in Kimono my darling 💋

Mike Deo in Gadabout #SFW  2017

George Charles (Geetyga) Monarch Collection 2016

3.  I know Martin has been around for sometime... but hey please compare and contrast between his last year's "Avant-garde-ish" yet elegant collection "MONARCH"

With this year's "GADABOUT"
Not that all pieces from the "MONARCH" collection were avant-garde some were pretty elegant all the way to the master piece which was a pretty beautiful wedding dress, but the presentation alone fits the description..
SFW 2016 #Monarch collection by Martin Kadinda

Chady Black in Monarch 2016.

Now bring up the "GADABOUT" , haya, kwa mimi niliyesoma St. Kayumba , I had to look it up and it means " a habitual pleasure-seeker" ok, its the first thing that pops up when you google it.

Lebron in Gadabout collection 2017

Thom Nguka in Gadabout 2017

Yes he has a signature ( I would call it Elegance) but being in the business long enough never gave him a reason to disappoint #fashionstalkers like me....

All in all what I can say is, Martin, you don't need no awards to prove your worthy. Everything you have earned is because of your talent and the person that you are. And we so need more of YOU's with the vision, thirst and the drive to get back up whenever your down in the fashion industry in Tanzania and I bet, Africa is proud to have won you for a "Fashion Jewel of Africa Award"

SWAHILI FASHION WEEK

So the biggest Tanzanian fashion show is back and is back with a BANG! However, it is a bit different this year…
10 years is not a small thing to accomplish. Swahili fashion week was conceived in the year 2007 and ended up to be one of the most respected African fashion shows. What makes this fashion show so big and so special is that every year more audience and designers add up to the fashion show’s most trusted and loyal list.
As said by Mustafa Hassanali himself  “Ten years would be a day dream if passion was not our core drive, would also not have been possible weren’t it be for all the Fashion and Accessory designers, Stylists, Models, Exhibitors, Make-up and Hair stylists, Photographers, Media, Volunteers, Sponsors, Suppliers, Clients, Partners, past and present staff at Swahili Fashion Week and all those fashionista who have been attending the fashion week year in, year out”

Mustafa Hassanali
The fashion show has many other forums, one of them being a popup shop that was hosted at the residence of the Italian ambassador H.E Roberto Mengani. Now you all know i'm a fine artist and I have to say, I love the fact that there were sculptors and painters in the pop up shop.
People, And fashion and paintings OH MY!
Having around 37 exhibitors from the fashion industry including designers, accessory designers and so much more.

Anywho... I'm more interested in the designers show casing this year.. we have local designers like Martin Kadinda, Kiki fashion, Lucky Creations, Manyatta House of Accessories all the way to Jreason from Lagos, Miizu (Malawian brand), Palse from Jo'berg and many other designers from different parts of Africa. Download the mag to see everything you are missing.
If you ask me, here is why I loveSwahili Fashion Week... IT IS THE BIGGEST PLATFORM GIVING FASHION SHOW IN TANZANIA. Growing up as a fashionista or even if you are a wannabe this is your hope and salvation.
WHAT IS YOUR REASON FOR LOVING IT?
Drop a comment below..

CHADY BLACK IN ORANGE

Richard George Maliti also known as @chady_black is a model that only started as a passion for fun kind of model and then later advanced to the kinda passionate about it for a career... So far he is doing a pretty damn good job, he has walked on various fashion shows in Tanzania like Lady in Red all the way to 10 years of AR and Swahili fashion week.
Dressed by Martin Kadinda

Any who, that is not why I am writing.. Its impossible to deny all his hard work, apart from having a team that discusses more than just what he should be wearing... I love that he and his team together work in building him as a brand...GOOD job CHADY👏👏👏

Recently... @Chady_black went "Stocking Orange with black stripes" I can't stop looking and admiring the creative features in his recent shoot release..

Get to know JOCKTAN MAKEKE
(On Instagram as @makeke_international)

He is a reflection of what truly is.. You know being in the fashion industry a lot of people assume that you suppose to be uptown and all rich and all...but reality strikes..that's not at all true.. I will live a lifestyle that is within my range that doesn't make me any less of a #fashionista.. And it shouldn't make you doubt yourself too... Very few people in the industry identify that...
And I am glad that people like @makeke_international come up aand remind us where we are from and where we should go..
Jocktan Makeke is an award-winning costum artist whose design ideas have an African culture content and theme. Makeke has been a self-taught artist from his childhood; much of what
he has learned has come from interaction and observation of other great artists

Makeke became fascinated with painting, drawing and fashion designing and so it was only natural that in 2009 Makeke joined University of Dodoma, College of Arts Media and Design (A.M.D.) where he received a BA, In Fine arts & Design in 2012.
Painting on canvases was never enough for Makeke he decided..."hey..why not paint on walking canvases" and now engages in body paint..and has worked side to side with other realists like models such as #ChadyBlack

Unlike many African specifically Tanzanian fashion designers...Makeke believes that the true roots of fashion is from the routes of the culture and traditions... His stage performance is unforgettable... As he demands attention... His creativity goes beyond what the fashion industry in Tanzania looks at and to me I would say that is absolute #avant-garde ...
Yes, I know you wonder..does he have any ready to wear pieces..? Well yes he does... The culture portrayal is his signature style but he will still style you up in amazing wardrobe collections..
The one thing I can say I live about Makeke which most people do not posses is his kindness and his intolerance for B.S (Bullshit) he is all about work and he is a friend in need...
So please show my good friend some love and support...follow him via his Instagram and YouTube pages...and thanks for stopping by.....
